Legoland - 19-Mar Part 12 - Lego Ninjago Land

Lego Ninjago world opened on the Saturday we arrived.  We narrowly missed the opening ceremony.

The main highlight of Ninjago world was the Ninjago ride.  On the first day the lines were about an hour or so, so we skipped it and decided to come back at the end of the day.  We returned about 5pm but it turned out all the rides closed at 5.

So on the second day we raced to the park to get there early and get to Ninjao before it got busy.  It didn't start well as our tickets were rejected.  If you recall from the first Legoland Entrance post - the gate guard had scanned our tickets a second time to verify them after we came through the gates.. It seems that made the tickets read as being used twice and invalidated them.

We needed to wait about 10 minutes for them to replace the tickets while the kids watched people passing us into the park.  Eventually we got in and raced down to Ninjago.  But the ride was closed.  We joined the line anyway expecting it to open soon.

A few minutes later they let us know that it was a technical issue and we decided to wait.  An hour later we were at the front of the line but there was still no indication it was going to open. In the end we gave up after just after an hour (11:15am), it turns out that was the right move as the ride opened at 2pm.  We eventually had a 20min wait and got on it (see later).

While we waited for Ninjago to open a crew member posed the kids and took this shot for us

Now onto the rides:

This was a small climbing wall for kids

Jay's Reaction Game
A metal frame with several lights, the kids needed to press them as they lit up

Lloyd's Laser Maze
The kids picked a difficulty and were timed running through a tunnel avoiding lasers.  They lost time for each laser they hit.  You could watch through monitors in the line for Ninjago

Ninjago the Ride
This ride was interesting and unlike all the other rides we did.  You walked through a long queuing area where you could read about the various powers and play with some motion detection stuff.  Then you were given 3D glasses and seated in a cart.  The cart moved slowly between points and there were 3D screens showing enemies attacking, culminating in an attack by a giant serpent - the great Devourer.  There were four positions in the cart relating to the ninja colours - black, blue, red and green.  To fire your power you thrust your hand forward over the movement detector panel and you could see your power ball flying on the screen in front of you.

Scores were tallied for each hit.  Kris went with Alana and two other people and I went with Cameron and Tomas.  Since we only had three people I sat between two positions and controlled them both. I ended up winning highest score with my right arm and second highest with my left.  When they showed the winners pictures there was half of me on each of the screens.

More play areas.  Tomas was working on the spinning puzzle when a kid on the other side kept turning the pieces when he wasn't looking

That was all for the Legoland park.  After it closed for the first day we took a trip to the Legoland Hotel to see what that was like.
