Helsinki, Tallinn and Stockholm - Part 2 Helsinki Centrum

We arrived in Helsinki at about 9:30am and stored our luggage at the train station so we could explore Helsinki.

No Capital is complete without nude blacksmiths beating on an anvil

The Magnum store in Helsinki - Sadly I only found out that this was a "Make your own Magnum" ice-cream shop, so we missed out!
Another blacksmith but this one has clothes.

We took a tram ride around the town to catch a few of the sights:

Statues at Central Station

I loved the tower on this otherwise unremarkable building
Statue to Elias Lönnrot - a Finnish physician, philologist and collector of traditional Finnish oral poetry

Our next stop was the very impressive Helsinki Cathedral.  This is the Helsingin Tuomiokirkko and in Swedish Helsingfors Domkyrka.  It's a Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Cathedral, built in 1830

We also saw (but didn't visit) the Uspenski Orthodox Cathedral (The Helsinki Red Church) an Eastern Orthodox Cathedral built in 1862.

At the time we were there, there was also a harbour market, selling souvenirs, handicrafts and food:

We then headed back to our hotel.  Kristine went out with our friends while I watched the kids (and Netflix).  The next day we were ready to go to our next destination - the island fortress Suomenlinna before our trip to Tallinn.
