We left Pete's pretty early on the Monday, as he had a work trip and we needed to do our return 4hr drive. Once we got back to Flint, we dropped Tomas at the house and then drove out to some stores to check before packing for our flights the next day.
The next day, we spent the morning catching up with my grandfather before catching our flight back to LA. As with the flight to Michigan, we flew via Detroit. The first flight on the return was from Saginaw/Midlands, which took about 45 minutes, then we had an hour in Detroit before our flight back to LA.
The Detroit airport was under renovations and there weren't many food options available, but we decided to try Chick-Fil-A as we had heard positive things about it. Granted, this one was an airport store and looked to be also undergoing renovations but we weren't super impressed. First we only got half of our order and had to go back with the receipt to request the rest. Secondly, when Cameron opened his burger there was a big spot of mould on the bun. We took it back and he was given a replacement burger and a free cookie, but it ruined the meal and left us with a pretty negative view of the franchise.
We landed in LA around 8pm and caught the shuttle out to the car rental area. There was a queue of about 20 people waiting and as when we first arrived, there was only a single employee working. After 45min, when we had got about quarter of the way into the queue, Kris and I suggested that Tara and the kids take an Uber to the house and check in and Kris and I would keep waiting.
We finally got to the counter after almost two hours and got to the apartment close to 11pm. We had an early start the next day and were exhausted from travelling and the time-zone changes so we were asleep pretty quickly.
