Öland (24-28th May) - Part 3 Neptuni Åkrar and Sandvik

On our third day we headed back to Neptuni Åkrar to check out the actual beach.  On the way we found Sandvik and the largest Dutch style windmill in Scandinavia and one of the biggest in the world:

We went for a walk along the shingle beach of Neptuni Åkrar.  The sign above says that the shingle was left behind by the last inland ice and then worn flat by waves.  Fossils have been found of Trilobites and Brachiopods.

On our way back to the cabin we came across some strange residents of the island:

The next day we headed back home, unfortunately there was an accident on the only bridge off of the island and we were stuck for about 45min without moving:
