Scotland and England - Part 8 - Nottingham? (7 Apr)

The plan today was to check out Nottingham and Sherwood forest.  We started off pretty early after checking out of Moorlodge and drove the 2.5hrs to Nottingham.  We pulled over to get petrol and then Kristine realised that she didn't have her purse.

We pulled all of the bags out of the car and sorted through them, no purse.  We tried ringing Moorlodge but because they are so rural, the calls went straight to message bank.  She recalled having her purse before York but didn't recall it during or after.  I called the York police and also the police from Keighley around the Moorlodge to see if it had been handed in.  No luck.

So we packed back up and drove the 2.5hrs back to Moorlodge.  Fortunately on the way up we managed to get hold of them, and yes, they had her purse.  We'd left it in the room.

So we went back along the narrow roads to Moorlodge (all the roads below are two directions)

So after 5hrs of driving we arrived back at Moorlodge, had a quick coffee/hot chocolate and then started on our trip back to our next destination - Alton.  I had picked Alton as it was only an hour from Nottingham and so we could have a little less driving today, but instead we ended up on another 2.5 hrs to get back, rounding the day to 7hrs driving and about half an hour sight seeing in Nottingham.

I was sure the place we booked in Alton had a kitchen, so we picked up some chicken and an enchilada mix for dinner.  When we arrived, the rooms were nice but small and not self catering - i.e no oven, or even a fridge to store the chicken.  The owners let us store it in their fridge and so we had a pub meal for dinner.

Overall the day was a bit of a disaster.

Travelled: 292 miles or 470km
