This was the final day of our trip.
We were out of the house early and our tour started at 9:30. We took 788 photos (3.35GB of files) and all had a great day.
The tour is at Leavesden Studios, where many of the scenes from Harry Potter were filmed. The site was a former airfield and factory and produced fighter planes in WWII.

After passing through the queue we headed into a room with screens showing posters of Harry Potter from around the world. We were given an introduction and an idea of what was to come.

Next we passed into a cinema where we saw a brief movie where Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint explained how they had lived, worked and studied on site and some stories about production. Then we moved to the doorway to the Great Hall.

Making of the Great Hall
After passing through the Great Hall we came into back area where we saw how they did the effects. The Great Hall actually had a standard roof, and the real roof was added in with digital effects. That way they could add the sweeping wooden beams.
The candles were initially tubes of oil hung by wires, but after a couple burnt through and fell, they were replaced by digital effects.

Gryffindor Boys' Dormitory
Next stop was the Gryffindor Boys' Dorm. The beds were never changed in size over the movie, so by the final ones the boys had to lie down and curl their legs - although the camera angles prevented this from being seen. The room was designed to be small and circular to 'make Harry feel more at home', and the curtains were about to be custom made when the set designer saw the perfect ones in a shop window.
