After a long wait, the boys and I finally got to attend a Rammstein concert. I'd last seen them at Big Day Out in Adelaide in 2001 and since then had never had a chance to see another of their concerts.
After hearing that they were doing a European stadium tour, we booked tickets in mid 2023 and Friday 5th July finally arrived.
The gates were due to open at 17:00, so we caught the train to Copenhagen around 3pm and then caught a second train out to the concert venue. The concert was hosted at Valby Parken - the largest park in Copenhagen.
When we arrived there were already some long lines and it took about 45min to get in. We passed through the gates around 17:30.

We stopped to check out the merchandise tents and bought shirts for the boys and then picked up a quick meal of fish and chips, before taking our place in the crowd around 6pm. The event was sold-out with 50,000 tickets sold, so we knew it was going to be packed. We didn't manage to get a close as we would have liked, but I was also cautious as it was the boys first heavy metal concert.
The supporting band began at 8pm, so we had a two hour wait. The supporting band was Abélard, a duo of French Classical pianists, who played several of the Rammstein songs on piano. They played instrumental versions of:
Mutter,
Klavier,
Mein Herz Brennt,
Wo Bist Du,
Zeit,
Ohne Dich,
Frühling in Paris,
Engel,
Deutschland, and
Du Hast.
They were skilled and the music was great, but it didn't really feel like the big build up to a heavy metal concert, and most of the people around us were still talking, pushing through with holders full of beers etc.
Abélard finished at around 8:45 and Rammstein took the stage about 9:15.
They arrived via a lift from the top of the tallest stage tower and kicked off into Ramm 4.
We didn't get too many clear photos, as we were a fair way back, but here is a sample:

The full set list:
The concert was amazing and the pyrotechnics were awesome. It rained a little while we were waiting for the show, but the flames dried us off pretty quickly. We were located just under one of the main towers and could feel the heat from the flames when they burst up.
The concert finished at 11:30 and Kristine drove over to meet us at the carpark of a Bauhaus nearby. The carpark was packed with buses and cars, so it took quite a while to get out and by the time we crossed the bridge to Malmö it was after 1am. Having only eaten the small serve of fish and chips all day, the kids were hungry and so we stopped at one of the few places still open, McDonalds at Hyllie. This was a bad idea as the train from Copenhagen had just arrived and a lot of the Swedish Rammstein fans had a similar idea. We finally got our food around 2am and headed home.
