On the Sunday (11th Dec) we caught up with a friend at Folkets Park with the intention to ice skate, but unfortunately the skating rink was closed due to holes in the ice. It was still nice (but bit cold -6 degrees C) to have a walk around the park.
Park Entry |
The boys tried out the Winter Maze, but since they could see over the walls it was a little too easy for them.
The reward for completing the maze was a new friend.. |
Christmas Market |
The next week I was back at work, while Kris and the kids did a few small trips, out to Lund and a few to different shops.
We still managed to get a few things done, like a quick look at the Winkelturm air raid shelter in Västra hamnen, built in World War II:
This style of shelter was designed by Leo Winkel in 1934 and were built in populated areas to provide bomb protection during the war. The pointed design made it hard to hit and would ensure that a bomb would slide off the top and detonate at the bottom where the walls were thickest, rather than destroying the roof.
We also managed a game of football on the Puckelboll Parken on Wednesday, which is an undulating football field in Kroksbäcksparken. It is designed so that the halves are not the same length, the goals are uneven and the field rises and falls to stop the ball going where you want it to. The plan is to somewhat negate the skill of players and instead add luck into the game. We started with Alana and I vs Cameron and Tomas, but that then changed to Tom and I vs Cameron, in the epic battle of Dadaldo vs Messi Bedroom.
One of the goals and an injury |
We also caught a great sunset on Thursday night as we drove past the Øresund Bridge:
On Friday I had an afterwork drinks with the work team and Kristine picked me up from Stortorget. The Christmas tree in the square was pretty impressive:
